From 2013-2023, Consumer Reports surveyed 75,000 individuals regarding the lifespan of dishwashers. The study showed that there can be issues with all brands and that an expensive dishwasher does not necessarily last longer.

In 2021, the Danish Energy Agency conducted a study on the lifespan of several white goods, including washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers.
The report concluded that 85% of all dishwashers are replaced because the old one is broken. According to the survey, the average lifespan of dishwashers is 10 years.
The British magazine Magnet.co.uk has investigated the lifespan of a wide range of household products, including dishwashers.
In the study, they found that dishwashers have an average lifespan of 9.5 years.

I 2018 udgav det tyske magasin Stiftung Warentest en rapport om reparation og levetid for opvaskemaskiner.
I undersøgelsen har Stiftung Warentest kontaktet flere store producenter for at få oplysninger om den forventede levetid på deres opvaskemaskiner. Miele oplyser, at deres opvaskemaskiner har en forventet levetid på 20 år, hvilket er den længste blandt producenterne. De fleste andre producenter, herunder Gorenje, Bosch, Neff, Siemens m.fl., angiver en forventet levetid på mindst 10 år.
