Who should buy Dyson V8 Absolute

  • The Dyson V8 Absolute has a soft roller cleaner head which is ideal for hard floors and a direct drive cleaner head that works well on carpets. So even if you have carpets or hard floors, the Dyson V8 Absolute has an appropriate cleaning nozzle that will provide a thorough and efficient cleaning.
  • If you are planning to gift the Dyson V8 Absolute to elderly people or if you are not used to using heavy things, you might appreciate the Dyson V8 Absolute since it feels light and weighs only 2.6 kg.
  • If you are looking for a cordless vacuum with various cleaning attachments, the Dyson V8 Absolute might be suitable for you because it offers six cleaning attachments with unique purposes.
  • If you have furry pets in your home, the Dyson V8 Absolute might be suitable for you because it has a powerful suction even on the normal mode that can easily pick up pet hair.

Who should NOT buy Dyson V8 Absolute

  • If you have a limited budget, the Dyson V8 Absolute might not be practical to buy. Instead, you might want to look for cheaper cordless vacuums, such as the AEG CX7-2-45AN or the Philips XC7042/01.
  • If you live in a large house, you might not be able to clean your entire home on a single cleaning cycle because the Dyson V8 Absolute has a poor battery life especially if you use the max mode. Instead, you might have to divide the areas that you will clean so you could charge the battery in between cleaning sessions, or you might want to look for other cordless vacuums with longer battery life, such as the Shark IZ251EU or the Philips XC8147 / 01.

This is our verdict of the Dyson V8 Absolute based on several hours of research of reviews from both experts and users.
Updated 19-08-2021

The Dyson V8 Absolute provides a lot of great features, such as powerful suction, a variety of cleaning attachments, and easy maneuverability due to its design and weight. However, it comes with a high price so if money is not a problem for you, then the Dyson V8 Absolute might be an excellent option.

The Dyson V8 Absolute offers various unique cleaning attachments that you can use in any floor type or on any object. It comes with a soft roller cleaner head, direct-drive cleaner head, mini motorized tool, combination tool, and rigid crevice tool.

The soft roller cleaner head is mostly seen in Absolute versions of Dyson cordless vacuums. It is an excellent cleaning nozzle for hard floors because it can easily pick up large debris compared to other cleaning nozzles. It is also quieter than other cleaning nozzles and won't scratch your floor. The direct-drive cleaner head has stiffer bristles so it works best in carpets since it can pick up deeply embedded fine dirt in your carpet. The mini motorized tool is suitable for picking up pet hair or fine dirt from the sofa or bed.

The wall-mounted dock allows you to store your Dyson V8 Absolute neatly. However, there isn't enough space for all six cleaning attachments so you still have to keep the other cleaning attachments somewhere other than the wall-mounted dock.

The Dyson V8 Absolute has outstanding suction power even on the normal suction mode, but if you are still not satisfied with it, the Dyson V8 Absolute gives you an option to use a higher suction power setting. There is a switch on top of the handle where you can easily adjust the suction power from normal to max mode. However, the max mode gives the Dyson V8 Absolute a shorter battery life, and you can only continuously use it for 7 minutes.

Dyson claimed that the Dyson V8 Absolute has an improved battery life compared to its predecessors. Still, if you compare it to cordless vacuums at this price range, the battery life might be disappointing. Moreover, it doesn't feature a detachable battery that gives you double battery life where you can replace the drained battery with a fully charged one, just like in the Tineco PURE ONE S12.

Like in any other Dyson cordless vacuums, you have to press the trigger switch to start then continuously hold it the entire time you are cleaning. The purpose of this is to optimize the battery life since it is already poor. However, some users don't feel comfortable continuously pressing the trigger switch. If you want a cordless vacuum with a lock button feature so that you can start and stop the vacuum with just one press, you might want to check the Dreame V11.

Overall, the Dyson V8 Absolute is a great cordless vacuum for any floor type and has outstanding suction power. It offers many excellent features and excellent cleaning performance so it justifies its high price.
