This is our verdict of the Ecovacs Deebot OZMO U2 based on several hours of research of reviews from both experts and users.
Ecovacs is mostly known for their high-end robot vacuums such as the Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI and the Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro that supports advanced features which also comes at an expensive price. But then again, they also have an entry-level robot vacuum that provides excellent value at a more affordable price which is the Deebot OZMO U2.
The Deebot OZMO U2 is not like other budget robot vacuums that can only navigate randomly. It supports random and hard floor cleaning mode. The random mode doesn’t have a specific pattern and navigates by changing directions when it hit an obstacle. On the other hand, the hard floor mode utilizes a systematic pattern of going back and forth to thoroughly clean the whole floor without leaving a spot uncleaned.
It does not only vacuum but can mop as well. You can adjust the water flow of the mop according to your cleaning needs. However, it cannot automatically detect carpets and since it doesn’t have a mapping capability, you cannot set no-mop zones. So, if you have carpets in your home and you want to mop your hard floors only, it is best if you put a physical barrier so that the robot vacuum won’t access areas with carpets.
You can control the Deebot OZMO U2 via the Ecovacs app which offers various features. You can set cleaning schedules, select cleaning modes such as edge and spot, and adjust suction modes through the app. The app can also connect to voice integrations such as Google Assistant and Alexa that allows you to easily start, return to base, and stop the robot vacuum.
The Deebot OZMO U2 supports three suction modes which are Eco, Max, and Max+. The Max+ mode increases suction more than 2.5x that allows the robot vacuum to provide a deeper cleaning. This mode is helpful if you have carpets in your home. However, noise-wise, the Max+ mode has a noise level of 78dB which can be extremely loud, while it is typically 68dB on a default mode. So, it is best if you use the Max+ suction mode when you are in a different room so that it won’t disturb or annoy you.
The Deebot OZMO U2 can easily go under low-lying furniture because of its 7.87cm height. Due to the robot vacuum’s low profile, it can easily clean areas where you can’t readily reach and where most dirt resides. It has a lower profile than other expensive robot vacuums with a laser turret.
Overall, the Deebot OZMO U2 is worth its price because of the value it can give. It is one of the budget robot vacuums but it can clean in a systematic pattern which makes it stand out. It is excellent to use for a day-to-day clean and allows you to experience convenience in cleaning.
