Pros

  • Base station with focus on easing the maintenance of the mops
  • Good cleaning performance with the mop
  • Good at detecting carpets
  • Many options to customize the cleaning

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Its object avoidance should be better
  • Only achieves a decent result in our carpet cleaning test

Verdict

The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo has several positive aspects. Its base station focuses on easing mopping maintenance, and it demonstrates good cleaning performance with the mop. Additionally, it is effective at detecting carpets, and it offers many customization options for cleaning.

However, there are also some drawbacks to consider. The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo is expensive, which may be a deterrent for some potential buyers. Furthermore, its object avoidance capabilities could be improved. Lastly, it achieves only a decent result in carpet cleaning tests.

When you buy the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo you get an advanced robot vacuum cleaner which automates the cleaning even more than many other robot vacuum cleaners can, thanks to its base station. The robot is built for those who prefer automated mopping maintenance, but don’t want automatic emptying of the dust bin.

Deebot X1 Series

The Deebot X1 series from Ecovacs, consists of three robot vacuum cleaners which are very much alike:

  • The Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI: This is the most advanced in the series. It comes with an identical robot to the X1 Turbo, but the base station is different. With the base station the robot can empty the dustbin, clean the mopping pads, refill the robot’s water tank and dry the mopping pads with hot air.
  • The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo: This robot comes with a base station, where it can refill the water tank, clean the mopping pads and dry the mopping pads with cold air.
  • The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Plus: This model in the series is built with another mopping system (vibrating mopping cloth instead of rotating mopping pads), and with the base station it is only possible to empty the robot’s dust bin.

So if you want the most advanced of the three robot vacuum cleaners, you should choose the X1 OMNI. If you want a robot vacuum cleaner with focus on the mopping pads (and not auto-emptying station) you should pick the X1 Turbo.

Our review of the X1 Turbo, is based on our test of the X1 OMNI. The two robots are identical, except from the base station where they differ. Therefore, we have not reviewed the base station for the X1 Turbo. Our review is conducted in accordance with our review methodology 1.1 for robot vacuum cleaners.

The following sections will not be covered in this review, but you can read about it in our review of the Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI:

  • App

  • Mopping
  • Noise level

Who is the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo suitable for

  • Due to the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbos rotating mopping pads and base station, with focus on maintenance of the mopping experience, this robot vacuum cleaner is best suited to households who highly value the mop function on a robot vacuum cleaner.
  • The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo has a powerful battery and a good navigation system, which makes it suitable for medium and large households.

Who is the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo not suitable for

  • If you don’t prioritize the mopping function you can save a lot of money by picking another robot vacuum cleaner that does not focus on this. Instead you might want a robot vacuum cleaner with just a regular charge station, such as the Roborock S7 MaxV, or the Roborock S8.
  • If you have a lot of carpets the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo might not be the best choice, because it avoids the carpets when the mopping pads are attached. Instead you might want a robot vacuum cleaner that still is able to vacuum the carpets when the mop is attached, such as the iRobot Roomba Combo J7, or the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra.

Navigation

The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo is built with LiDAR laser navigation and two front cameras. The robot can map your household precisely, recognize objects and enable live remote reviewing through the robot vacuum cleaner.

You can read more about our test of the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbos navigation ability in our review of the Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI.

App

The app offers multiple options to customize your cleaning. The robot creates a 2D map and 3D map of your household where you can customize the cleaning of the areas very precisely.

You can read more about the app in our review of the Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI.

Mopping

One of the areas where this robot vacuum cleaner performs particularly well is its ability to mop. The robot is equipped with two rotating mopping pads, which cleans the floor more thoroughly than a traditional robot vacuum cleaner that simply runs a wet mopping cloth over the floor.

Dimensions and weight

The robot of the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo measures:

  • Height: 10.35 cm
  • Width: 36.2 cm
  • Depth: 36.2 cm

The base station measures:

  • Height: 44.1 cm
  • Width: 44.8 cm
  • Depth: 43.0 cm

It has a large base station, so you will have to think about storage before you buy the robot vacuum cleaner. You will need easy access to the base station to refill the water tank and empty the dirty water tank. You must be able to access the water tanks from above, so you should not place the base station under anything.

Base station

The base station of the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo is able to:

  • Clean the mop
  • Refill the robot’s water tank with clean water
  • Dry the robot’s mop (with cold air)

The base station consists of two tanks:

  • A 4 liter water tank for clean water
  • A 4 liter water tank for dirty water

The base station needs regular maintenance, which consists of:

  • Refilling the clean water tank
  • Emptying the dirty water tank
