In-depth reviews:
How do we select products?
How do we select the products for our comparisons? As a starting point, we strive to compare a wide range of products. Only products from retailers we collaborate with are included in our comparisons, as we cannot update prices from retailers we do not have partnerships with. We have a limited number of partners within certain product groups, which may affect the breadth of the product range we compare. We do not accept products, we do not collaborate with brands, and we do not highlight certain products for a fee.User reviews
Where do we source the user reviews from? The most important parameter for our scoring system is user reviews. We believe this is the most accurate way to assess a product’s quality and satisfaction. We collect product reviews from partners and websites we do not have partnerships with. We only use reviews approved by third parties, i.e., we do not use reviews from the brands’ sites. How is the score calculated?
Each product is scored from 0 to 100 based on user reviews, expert reviews, and test results. The starting point for the score is the product’s user reviews.
Example: If a product achieves a score of 4.2 out of 5 from 100 users, the starting point for the score will be 84 (4.2*20).
Points are then deducted and added to the score based on several criteria:
- Points will be deducted from the score if the product only has a few reviews.
- If the product performs well in external tests (top 33% in tests), points will be added to the score.
- If the product performs poorly in external tests (bottom 33% in tests), points will be deducted from the score.
- If the product receives good expert reviews, points will be added to the score.
- If the product only has user reviews from one source, points will be deducted from the score.
Explanations
- User reviews: We only include user reviews from sites that we consider to be objective. Some sites generally have very high user reviews, and we do not include these sites.
- Test results: The external test results we include are tests where the product has been physically present and tested against other products in the same product group. We only include tests that we believe are conducted objectively and of high quality.
- Expert reviews: We define expert reviews as individual reviews of products (i.e., not multiple products tested against each other) conducted by people knowledgeable about the product group. We only include external expert reviews where the product has been physically present. We include only expert reviews that we believe are objective and of high quality.
